First time I've used it in a very long time and I now can remeber why I haven't used it for so long.

I have to leave it loading for 5 - 10 minutes before I can use it as it take this long to pull my existing maps in and all the devices.

Highlight some device icons and try to resize and it only resizes one so makes it painful if you need to resize multiple device icons.

It randomly locks out the zoom buttons so I have to unlock zoom and this is a pain.

When you save a map it returns to the default zoom level so you then have to zoom in and out to where you were before the save.

If I need to change the device that a device icon represents it takes a further 5 - 10 minutes to show me the list of devices.

A bizarre bug is if you have the grid on and try resizing an icon it just don't work correctly, you have to take the grid off do the resize and put it back on again.

When you draw a line between two device icons I would like the line option to stay on so I can draw multiple lines instead of having to select the line button everytime I want to draw a line, this makes a job 10 times longer and is very frustrating.

So far its taken me just under a day to do a basic LAN diagram as I've had to leave it from time to time because of the frustration I get with it.

Are Solarwinds going to improve this part of Orion and when, they've now spent a lot of time since v7 improving the DB, frontend and other functionality and not done anything with Map maker or Report writer these to me are as important as the rest of the product and need to be brought up to date with the rest of the product.

Yes, we are actively working on a major upgrade of Map Maker.

Jon, what version are you using?

I'm still using 8.1 and the mapmaker is functioning flawlessly (after the slow load bug fix).
Has the functionality been impaired in newer versions?

-=Cheers=-

I'm still using 8.1 and have seen the problems listed earlier.

Looking at moving to 9 once our Poller maintenance gets validated.

 Jon,

The problem you're seeing is much better on 9.0.

I agree with all but the grid's "bizzare" behavior. The grid should help you to position and size all objects using the grid lines.
