If support hasn't already asked, run SolarWindsDiagnostics (from the SolarWinds Start menu folder) and send the zip file to support

I get this in the Solarwinds.net Eventlog:
Source: SolarWinds.APM.Busines
A license check failed. License does not match install type.

Could thuis be a licensing issue? I Downloaded APM 2.0 from the customer portal.
You used remote desktop to install it, right? Got to run the install from add/remove programs!!!
Had the same thing.....

No (read your post) installed it from the console.
Yes, it is a licensing issue, but I need the diagnostics to tell you exactly what the problem is.
Josh:
I uploaded the Diagnostics files (all 103 MB of them). But I the meantime I uninstalled and reinstalled APM 2.0 from the console using Add/Remove Programs and Shazaam, it's working.
Very puzzled.
Are your running your server in Terminal Server mode or "Remote Desktop for Administration" mode? If you will go to Start | Administrative Tools | Terminal Services Configuration, select Server Settings and look for the Licensing setting. It probably says "Remote Dekstop for Administration". In this case, you won't need to run the installer via Add/Remove Programs.
JB, I think you just had a licensing issue. When you uninstalled and then reinstalled, you fixed the problem (one file didn't get replaced so your server didn't see a 2.0 license).
It is in "Remote Dekstop for Administration" mode.
For anyone else reading this thread...
If you look in the SolarWinds Event Log and see a error message like this: "A license check failed. License does not match install type.", you are hitting an upgrade issue we are working on. The installer is not replacing one of the files installed by APM 1.0. If things aren't working correctly and you see the error in your event log:1. Delete the file C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\apm\Package.dat2. Rerun the APM installer.
Very glad I read Thwack - installed APM2.0 and ran into this issue.
Thanks for the quick fix Josh!
Dave.
Thanks for all the information above. I had to renamed my package.dat file to package-old.dat and re-ran the install. I ran the repair option and it loaded this time.
