It looks as though interface names are not being pulled automatically anymore from the switch port's description field.

However, in the past we have changed the interface description on the switch and Solarwinds has pulled this in automatically. This was definitely the case in older versions of NPM, perhaps something that was missing with the introduction of SP2? We have never had to go through this process to keep our interfaces up to date before, Solarwinds has automatically pulled the name from the description automatically.

Could this be added (or added 'again')?

thanks

We've made this change in the code, and it'll be out in the next release.

Denny, can you clarify "next release" please?  Do you mean service pack or release like in 9.1?  Release is a long time to wait for functionality that was taken away to be restored.

(1) Orion v8.5.1 SLX running Web Site
(1) Orion v8.5.1 SLX polling engine
(1) Orion v8.5.1 SLX Hot-Standby
(1) MS SQL2000 EE
APM v1.0 ALX
VoIP Monitor v2
Wireless Network Monitor v8

I have a SQL script that we wrote to update all of the interface captions to match the description on the interfaces.  I was vary reluctant to run it because I didn't like the idea of mass updating 2000 interfaces but it did work correctly.  I have a similar query that we use for the device names.  To have this restored would be awesome.
