I use Firefox and for the life of me I cannot get the Toolset functions ping and traceroute (telnet...ssh..http..and rdp work fine) to load from a device page in Orion.

I get the following message with I click on the Toolset integrated button for "Launch SolarwindsPING tool":

To utilize Solarwinds Toolset Integration features, be sure to allow Active X controls in your browser

I have looked thru Firefox and have tried to search the forum but came up with nothing.

Anyone run across this?

It works in IE...but I dont want to use IE or IE tab is at all possible.

jw - unfortunately the shortcuts in Orion use ActiveX to launch the Toolset tools, and the only way to run ActiveX is in IE, or IETab.  There is (was) an ActiveX plugin for Firefox, but I do not think it has been kept current.

Is there still an issue with integrating the Toolset in Firefox?

I cannot get the tools to show in the right click menu using Firefox, and as far as that goes, they are currently not showing on IE either.

Do I need to reinstall the toolset to get IE working?

We currently do not have a Toolset integration solution for Firefox.  As Greg indicated, the Toolset integration component functions as an ActiveX component, which is Internet Explorer only.

As for the tools not showing in the IE right-click menu, verify that the Orion account that you are logged in under has the "Allow Browser Integration" option set to "Yes".  Also, verify that the component is installed.  Look under Tools > Manage Add-ons... (IE 6) or Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or disable Add-ons... (IE 7).  Look for SWToolset.Engine, as seen here in this screenshot:

Let me know if this helps.

Are there any plans to potentially move away from ActiveX for the Toolset integration so that it can be used in browsers that aren't IE?

Hi Byron - eventually we would like to get away from using the ActiveX control for integration, and it is on our roadmap...
