I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue after upgrading to NPM 9.5. Since I upgraded, at least once a day, the NPM webpage will not load. The only way I've been able to fix it is by restarting the World Wide Web Publishing Service or IIS in general.

I also noticed that the W3WP.exe process is taking up approximately 250 MB of RAM on a regular basis. Is that normal? I've checked the event logs and there are no errors or issues preceeding this issue. Any thoughts?

mattinglyd:

I just received and applied SP3.  I was also having a Traps issue and this has been fixed.

Will monitor and advise if this fixed my maps/page refresh issue.

Dave

Was the traps page not displaying any traps?

jlintner:
We upgraded to SP3 yesterday and still have to restart IIS a few times per day.  We have two servers:  one a collector/IIS server and a second as DB server.  The DB server is purring along, but since the upgrade the collector server's CPU utilization stays over 95%!  Our support ticket is still open and still working on the issues.  In the mean time still restarting IIS every few hours.

Do you have any maps on your NPM homepage? If so, have you tried temporarily removing them to see if that issue improves?

Added back my 2 maps and have to restart IIS every hour or so - SP3 no help with this  :(

Went back to 1 map for now - that seems to be ok.

"Was the traps page not displaying any traps?"

We currently have 2 Orion issues.

1.  The website times out daily, and need to restart IIS.

2.  The traps page does not display.  It times out everytime.

Tickets are open for both issues.  Running 9.5 SP2 HF1.

Whats this I hear about SP3 possibly resolving the trap issue?

I don't know if my trap issue is the same as yours. My issue began after "upgrading" to 9.5 along with many other issues. The Traps page loads, however there are no traps being displayed. I've had a case open for that and was told via email recently that SP3 should resolve that issue.

All, we have released SP3 today, please see this post for more information.  We have confirmed that SP3 does fix many issues including what many of you have reported on this thread.  However, as you can see from the last couple posts, we have come across a couple instances in which there is another issue and we are working directly with these customers to address.  We recommend you upgrade to SP3 at your soonest convenience.

If the problem persists after you upgrade to SP3, please open a support ticket so we can work with you directly.

Yesterday support and developers remoted my system (SP3 applied) to further investigate multiple maps and the website stopping.  Seems they have a pretty good idea of what is causing the issue - it is not fixed in SP3.  I did have other issues that were fixed in SP3 so it seems to be a good thing - except for map issue.

Developers told me they are close to a solution.  I appreciate their work!

Thanks,

Dave

After some more work on our ticket, support sent me an updated SolarWinds.MapEngine.dll file to replace the one in the inetpub/Solarwinds/bin folder.  That helped the website a lot - big improvement but we still had performance issues.  Reading another thread on this forum, someone suggested removing and reinstalling the Solarwinds Job Engine - problems solved.  The website is stable again, and the CPU is under control.  All that with 9.5 SP3!

NPM 9.5 SP4 SLX; NCM 5.5.1 DLX; NTA 3.5 SLX

If you're still experiencing issues around memory usage in IIS after you download and apply SP3, please contact Technical Support. We are tracking and working directly with customers experiencing further issues.
