Is there plans to migrate Custom Property Editor to being Web Enabled.

I know you can modify custom properties of a node that you are currently viewing under the Orion Web Pages, however I dont currently have the ability to view my entire database of all Nodes, Volumes, Interfaces from a editable web page.

Reason for this.  We are slowly pushing towards getting approval to get a new monitoring environment and well... we have litterally over 4000 routers, 12000 switches and untold number of circuits.  not to mention of we where to encompass servers into the mix.

Having a means to modifying a multitude of devices custom properties via a web form would be greatly helpful.  Even though having a good working locking system would be mandatory.

You can change more then one value at a time using the System Custom Property editor.

When I make "global" changes to a large number of devices I will create a filter for the group of devices that I want to view in Custom Property Editor.

Then type what you want into the custom property as desired. Highlight. Copy.

Highlight all the cells you wish to populate. Paste.

Done. This will populate as desired for all or as few as you choose.

The key to this is using the filter commands to view your desired selection.

If you have further questions let me know I can explain better, if needed.

If you have the custom fields themselves already defined, you can populate the values of them via the web console with Manage Nodes.  If you go Admin -> Manage Nodes, you can select one or more devices and select Edit Properties or if you want to populate properties on Interfaces, you can select Interfaces in the drop down box next to "Show:" at the top of the window and select one or more interfaces and select Edit Properties.

Actually all I was wanting to know is if there where plans to bringing the custom property editor to the web.  I would love to have the full functionality of the application via a web .asp page.

Brandon,

I know this is more of a feature request, but would it be possible to change the Custom Properties fields in the Edit Properties section to drop down lists that would be populated with the current custom properties in the database?  Currently, if someone happens to fat finger a custom property by misspelling it or inadvertantly adding a space, they end up creating a new custom property.  It doesn't happen often but when it does, it changes our monthly reporting and makes tracking down the incorrect custom property lots of fun.

Thanks,
Kevin

I asked his before but I don't know if its in your system.  If we could put in a little descriptive text that displayed on the page next to the property that would be a great feature!
