Hi, sorry if this sounds like something really obvious, but are the NTA pages/resources not supposed to auto refresh like other NPM pages/resources?  I only ask because I have started to use NTA more frequently lately and I have noticed no auto refreshing.  That said, I just did some testing while writing this thread (don't want to state anything I'm not sure about and look like a buffoon), and it appears to only be pure NTA pages.  NPM pages with NTA resources refresh fine.

Hi,

NTA AutoRefresh interval is separately from NPM, and unfortunatelly is not exposed by UI.

You can set up it in file ..\WebDirectory\Orion\TrafficAnalysis\TrafficAnalysis.config and search for this section

 <autoRefresh>
    <enable>false</enable>
    <interval>5</interval>
  </autoRefresh>

Interval is in minutes.

This strange behavior will be fixed, but for now please use this approach.

Thanks

Hi acherman--

We investigated this and it looks like you have discovered a bug. I'll make sure the NTA Product Manager knows about it. He will likely post something to this thread so stay tuned.

That's exciting.  Do I get a prize?  haha

I guess no one else gets bored and stares at their NTA screens like I do.  ;-)

Excellent.  Thanks for the info.  Interesting that the default is set at 5 minutes and it still does not refresh after 5 minutes.  I'm sure I've left it for over 30 minutes with no change - will test again now with the default unchanged...

just for sure, you have to change property <enable> from false to true, right? And this information is cached for whole app domain, so maybe you need to restart IIS App Domain, because it is loaded only once (but really not sure)

Thanks

AAH HA HA HA!!  What an idiot.  Sorry, I didn't even look at the enable part, only the time setting.  Sorry, I have changed it to enable=true and I am betting it will work fine.

Thanks again ET!!!

Yes, I can confirm that your solution works - in both IE and Firefox.

On a related note, integrated NCM-web DOES honor the NPM page refresh settings ... which is actually annoying since we have the NPM refresh set to 3 minutes for an Ops HUD. Most of our NCM reports take 1-3 minutes to generate so as soon as a report is displayed it decides to refresh. So independent refresh intervals for each module accessible through the UI would be helpful.

cheers ... :) gn

Make sense.   Anybody else looking for this?    Tracking this internally as #4729

Yes, I think having custom refresh times for each modules would be great.  While it's nice having quick refreshes for things like NPM, other modules do not need to be refreshed as often - like NCM and NTA.  While we do have the ability to set NTA times differently, doing it via a file edit is a pain.

I would like for NTA to honor the global config for refresh as well as have the ability to configure separately..
