I must be missing something ... if I apply the sql server 2005 application monitor to a node/server hosting a  named sql server instance, I have to configure each application monitor component with the server name and port number (we use non default ports).  Am I supposed to be defining named instances as nodes and then applying the application monitor or is there an easy way to change the way all the components connect to a server?  And this gets a little trickier as we have a couple of servers with more than one named instance.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jen

Hello Jen,
If you use non-standard instance names and ports, you have to specify these for each component in the template. If you have more nodes with same instance names and ports, you can copy default SQL 2005 template, name it for example "ABC SQL instance" and fill it with that instance name and port. Then you can just assign it to nodes.
