Mark,

Few questions related to your answer:

1) Is it a requirement for Orion NPM  as well that we send any private/custom MIBs to Solarwinds before the MIB can be viewed, to do get/set/walk? I thought that this was the requirement only for the Engineering toolkit?

2) If we are required to send our MIBs to you for Orion NPM as well, what is the typical turnaround time for the process of adding the private MIBs to the database?

3) Will our private MIB remain only accessible to us or will everyone be able to access it from your MIBs download page?

No the MIB do not need to be compiled for Orion for it to be monitored as long as you know the OID you can get to it, Toolset on the other hand need it to be compiled.

2) If we are required to send our MIBs to you for Orion NPM as well, what is the typical turnaround time for the process of adding the private MIBs to the database?

We typically take a week to compile any MIB that we received , that is provided that it complied without any issues.

3) Will our private MIB remain only accessible to us or will everyone be able to access it from your MIBs download page?

It will be posted to the customer portal so anyone with access to the customer portal have access to it. If you want to keep you MIB private do not send it in for us to be compiled.

Thank you - that is useful information.

One more question.

I noticed that I needed to pick a Node or Interface to be able to create a custom poller - is there a way to do this before any nodes are added to Orion? We will need to create custom-pollers before the nodes are available to be managed for our custom (private) MIBs.

Hello

Have tried to install the Dell custom MIBS off teh web page on a couple of Dell Server and even though the out of the box traps report back, the custom mibs do not provide any data in the views.  Has anyone had experiance of these working.

evalUser,

You could assign the MIB to any nodes and when you have the actual node that you want to apply to managed you can always apply to this node later.

I have a similar problem..

In Orion 8.1 (eval) I tried to do a Custom MIB for showing PIX/ASA current Active connections.

The value is verified using snmptools ......

ueser@server> /usr/local/bin/snmpget -v 2c -c public 172.16.10.254 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6

Answer: 9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6 : Unsigned32: 1073

I use the same OID [1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6] in Orion and I do a test (Get), I succesfully get an answer.

Though in Orion Web I cannot see any graph ... instead I get a "No Data" under Custom Poller Status.

How do you customise the view so that it shows the new data. I have added the MIB but cannot see the value from the web console. Also can custom alerts be created for the new mib

You have to add the custom poller to your node view.  So go in the Admin Page -> Manage Views then create a new View for a node that has a custom poller.  Once your in the view you can go under Node Gauge or Node Chart and select custom poller.
