    Tell us your "Unknown" devices!

Sometimes devices show up in Orion as "unknown".  Those devices need to be added to our SysObjectID database.  We know about lots of them, but we'd like to hear which items you need.

     We need:

SysObjectID (which you can find in Node Details) in System Manager.

Re: Tell us your "Unknown" devices!

The only Unknown devices I have are devices that do not support SNMP and I only ping them.  Could there be a label created for these device types that said something like "SNMP Not Supported"?  That way they would not show up unknown.

These are not showing up as "Unknown" but it would be nice to have something other than "Cisco"....all of my equipment is Cisco.

    Telco Systems Switches

    Accedian EtherNIDs

It'd be cool to be able to choose an icon for "unknown" devices, such as BSD or Linux machines.  Penguins and demon babies are always fun to see on a webpage.

Re: Tell us your "Unknown" devices!

One things that would be nice, is the ability to add a vendor/company name to an unknown device.

We have a few devices that we need to monitor but can ony do it via ICMP, and to go in and edit the database is OK, but it would be better if we could do this from the system manager.

I believe I provided all this info, albeit using slightly different terminology ?!?
I actually added this info to my Node Details View.

Sorry, wasn't singling you out, Guru.  My original instructions were vague, so I edited them, and reposted to make sure the next poster was likely to read them.

All support for Brocade SAN switches.   The top level OID exists, but there's nothing below it.
