I've called customer support many times over the past several weeks. I've uploaded the results of Solarwinds diagnostic tool, but no matter how many times I call, I can't get a response.

On the server that hosts Solarwinds, the wireless addon constantly uses 100% CPU, which hurts performance, and seems to cause gaps in the monitoring, and periodic crashes.

I've uninstalled, then upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1, then to 8.5 with no change.

Any advice?

Thanks,

L. Harrell

Sorry to hear about your experience. Do you have a case number I could reference to track down your issue? In the meantime you might could try a few of the suggestions from this thread-

Yes, and thanks for your response.

Case #14764. As far as the thread you referenced, I read that before posting, it's a different problem. Those folks were having a gauge display 100% cpu on a monitored machine but actual cpu usage was lower.

My problem is with the server hosting solarwinds. The Wireless addon is actually using 100% of all four CPUs.

Thanks,

Leo Harrell

Did you ever get a resolution to your 100% CPU with the wireless addon to Orion?  We have had the same problem with it since day one.  We have called tech support and done many different things, and nothing helped.  We do have 600+ APs on our network, however.  It seems to not be able to handle a large number of APs.

This doesn't sound encouraging since we are considering bring this tool to our infrastructure.

Yes, all is well as of October '07.

Upgraded to Orion 8.5, then had to install a hotfix, then ANOTHER hotfix, v.2.

I'll tell you, it took about 3 uninstalls before everything worked correctly. No indication why. Ever since then all has been great.
