**Edited, as subject of thread has changed from login error to maps display error**

First off, I'd like to say hello as this is my first post here. (hello to the Corona folks as well)

Looking around, I see other having similar problems, but  not identical to mine.  Should anyone have any info, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've been using 8.1 for a bit now, with no problems, but today I decided to upgrade to 8.5.  All seems to have gone well with the exception of my web interface.  When I log in now, I either get an invalid login/pw for my normal login, or an error page when I log in as a main admin login.

_______

Orion Website Error

An error has occurred with the Orion website.

Additional Information

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at ClassicSiteProxy.Login(HttpContext context, String username, String password)
at Login.DoLoginAction(String username, String password)
at Login.LoginButton_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
at Login.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive()
at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

_________

I've opened a service ticked, but as I stated above, any info is good info.

Thanks,
Ed

EMetro:

_____

Orion Website Error

An error has occurred with the Orion website.

Additional Information

System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:\InetPub\SolarWinds\web.config' is denied.

Enable anonymous access to the folder

I notice your Inetpub directory is on the "D:" drive.
I wonder if the installer is trying to install the maps on the C drive, or Orion is looking for them in the C drive \Inetpub directory.

hmmm interesting. Also we need to determine which user the COM+ is running under, then manually select all the map files, right click, properties, security, and give that COM+ user full control of the files. When you copied them all to the desktop, then back”, this removed the ACL for the COM+ user and could be the root of the issue.

NG, I don't think that is the case, reason being... In the Web Interface, when setting up the Network Map, it sees all my maps.  The maps are being pulled from the C:\program files\solarwinds\orion\maps folder.

As for the COM+ concern Mark, I've checked permission of several random maps.  They all have full admin access checked.  The account used on the server to set everything up is an admin acct.

I've enabled debugging and sent daignostics into support, but if y'all have any more idea, of course they're welcome... I feel lost without my maps. ;)

We have released Hotfix 2 which addresses many website issues-

 http://thwack.com/forums/p/5168/22486.aspx#22486

UPDATE: We did a GoTo meeting to resolve this "cannot load network map issue" Here are the steps to resolve.

Go to C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion and right click on the Maps directory.

Click on the Security Tab. Then click add, find the local user named “SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE” and add them with “Full Control”.

Then click the Advanced button, select the “SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE” user and check the “Replace permission entries on all child objects with the entries shown here that apply to child objects” option.

Click OK to the close all dialog boxes and then go to the website and reload.

Your maps should appear.

Any suggestion on how to resolve this. TS mentioned they won't be available until tomorrow. Good product slow support.

I am having the same issue with the maps not displaying after the upgrade from v8.1 to v8.5.  I have tried everything support has asked to no avail.  My style sheets are missing as well (formatting lost in reports view for example).  I really need to get my maps and style sheets working again.  My installation of Orion and the website is on my D drive.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I have verified that SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE has full control as well as everyone and propagated it down. There is something more going on since my style sheets are screwed up.  In my test environment after upgrading from 8.1 to 8.5 my style sheets were broken, but after hotfix 1, it was fixed.  In my production environment, I upgraded and then applied hotfix2, but nothing was fixed.

UPDATE 10/18/2007

Since the Orion web page now uses SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE, it didn't have access to my server's temp folder.  Once I granted it access to the system temp folder, the maps started working.

I am having this issue of not getting the maps to display on a fresh install, all i get is a grey box where the map should be. Solarwinds_website has full access to inetpub\Solarwinds and solarwinds\orion\maps

Before I had an issue where the page would not display and because the isapi filter URLrewrite.dll if left in its original position would not load and I had to move it to inetpub\solarwinds\bin to get it to work.

My inetpub is on C: and solarwinds install is on D: if that helps

Any one find out what causes this?

Thanks.

Try running the website portion of the Configuration Wizard. If no luck then will need to dig deeper.

I recently had the same issue. We opened a case with support and got it resolved. Here are the steps that I followed to fix both the missing maps and missing charts/graphs from the website.

Try these steps to resolve this issue.

1. Close all Internet Explorer browsers.
2. Add IUSR_(localmachine name) and SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE to the power users and users group.
3. Make sure these users have full access to the C:\InetPub\SolarWinds and C:\Program Files\SolarWinds file
4. Open the Shutdown NetPerfMon tool, which is located under Start/SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor/Advanced Features
5. Unload the SolarWinds Orion NPM COM+ object then restart all services.
6. Restart IIS.
7. Open Internet Explorer and go the Orion website.
