Hello! I'm having a severe problem with my Wireless Network Module at the moment. When I access the "Wireless Networks Summary" page, in 9 out of 10 attempts no entries are visible in the "Wireless Client History" Section. I only get "SQL open error: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out of range datetime value". And if it works, the page takes forever to load (over two minutes) and to display the entries, ALL entries, not just those for today. I have opened case #16470 with Support, but no really good advice (apart from "upgrade to 8.5", which is not possible at this time) has come of it. I'm using Orion 8.1.3 with Wireless Module 8.1.3. Any tips? Best regards, BadAccent.

8.5 won't help.

I reported this during beta testing and we worked out it was to do with an SQL query using the date in US format. In my case it should have been UK format. There's been no hint of a fix since then.

Thanks for the info.

So I basically purchased a product that does not work. Very nice. Furhermore, the SolarWinds support is not very helpful, they always tell you to upgrade to the newest version, which does not always fixes your problem but always seems have new additional bugs. And beyond that I never got another reply to my mails to support.

Great.

Is there any way to get my Orion working here? I specifically purchased Orion because of the Wireless Client History function and now I can not use it.

If by any chance a SolarWinds support engineer reads this, my still open issue has the case number #16470.

Best regards,
BadAccent.

Engineering is looking at the problem, but if it's something we can hotfix it will only be fixed on 8.5.

I think I have a possible workaround for this issue. Check the default language for the SQL login used by Orion. In SQL 2005, you can do this using SQL Management Studio. Expand Security/Logins and open the Properties for the login Orion uses:

Set the language to one whose short date format (US English uses month/day/year, UK English uses day/month/year, etc.) matches what the website uses.

I have attempted to make this problem go away in 8.5.1, but this SQL configuration change might get it working for you on earlier versions including 8.1.
