Just as quick refresher, the APM module is intended to extend Orion with "application monitoring for the network engineer".   From our conversations with customers, this means two things: 

1. Provide monitoring for the core network services for which they are directly responsible.
2. Provide the capabilities necessary to shift blame away from the network
   

The APM module will provide the following capabilities to address these needs:

• Network service monitoring (e.g. HTTP, FTP, DNS, etc.)
• Generic TCP port monitoring
• Process monitoring (similar to existing AM module)
