I manage the network for a generally small, but highly-distributed government organization. We operate sites all across the nation, and it was constantly a challenge for me to be aware of when systems were up and down, when I was experiencing network problems, and generally how the systems were performing.

 Well it was, until we bought Solarwinds.

Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor has allowed my organization to stay on top of every aspect of my network. From UPS systems, to switches, to routers, to servers - I know what's going on, when it's happening. Solarwinds sends me alerts to my cell phone as soon as a node stops responding - and when it comes back online. I'm also warned early when a server HDD starts to fill up. Nothing is worse than getting 20 calls at 6 PM because the file server is full and users need a place to save a word doc.

 Solarwinds was a Godsend to my organziation - as we grow, Solarwinds is going to be able to grow with us. I evalutated several network management apps, including HP OpenView. Solarwinds is hands-down the best network management program I've ever used.
