Everything has been running along smoothly until last night when my exchange server died at 12:02 a.m. Notifications did not reach the on call blackberries because all alerts are sent out via email (exchange) I know Orion can support a different means of notification but it appears to need a piece of "middleware". Has anyone out there done this, or does anyone have a better means of providing alert notifications when your email server goes down?
Sincere thanks,
You can do Out of band SMS via a modem to almost any cell phone carrier that supports tapi ( you can google the carrier to locate the dial in number) then you use a $25 program called Notepager pro to dial and send the page like an email.
or get yourself a USB aircard its faster and more relaible than dial up ( most carriers are dropping support for the out of band numbers).
