    adding IP phones

I want to add some IP phones as infrastructure, but right now I seriously doubt that they are SNMP enabled. Would I need to enable a RO string on the phones before I can get any detailed data on them with VoIP Monitor?

    Hey freeman,

I'd check with the manufactures docs. Avaya does have SNMP on some phones which is unusual.

A faster way would be to use a MIB browser (try our toolkit eval for free  http://www.solarwinds.com/register/index.aspx?Program=363&c=70150000000D8FL) and browse the phones.

    Yes - I am shameless.

Ok, but you are telling me that SNMP is necessary on the phones right? The MIB Browser tool won't work unless SNMP is enabled first, correct?
