Backup Configs only when they have changed

    Hi All,

I would like to run a daily job to backup only those configuration that have changed. However, when i select the option -

Only save configs that have changed

It just backs up every device....

Am i missing something here? Im running the eval version

    Thanks

    Andy

     Hi Andy,

If you run diff reports on the Configs, does it report any differences?

When you select the option to save configs that have changed, Cirrus should only save the configurations that are different from the configs previously downloaded.

You can also check the option to send notification that will show you if it is picking up some changes.

Re: Backup Configs only when they have changed

    Thanks Sham,

I think i know where i was getting confused. The email alert states

"downloaded startup config" Which it clearly needs to do before it can compare. However, the config is not kept unless changes are found.

It was the "downloaded startup config" statement that led me to believe that the config had been saved, when in fact it hadnt!

    Appreciate your help

    Thanks

    Andy

I also had this issue and what it turned out to be was the time variable in the config. Everyday the date and time changes on the show running config thus indicating that the configuration had changed and it backs up the config.

If you go into NCM and select to ignore that line from the configuration comparison then it will only backup those configs that have truly changed.
