Hello,

I am running NPM 9.5 SP4 with 2 polling engines and a stand alone SQL server with the db on a very beefy SAN.  I currently have a total of 11,866 elements but that number continues to grow, as we are moving toward monitoring all interfaces on each device.  Performance has been fine for some time.

My boss would now like me to install IP SLA so we can evaluate it.  I have read a couple of horror stories about IP SLA installs causing some major problems.  I have a couple of questions:

1. I have backed up the entire db.  Should I take any other precautionary steps before installing?

2. Is it easy to uninstall the IP SLA evaluation when we are ready to move to the full product or decide to not use it?

Hi Warbird,

Check your IOS levels according to

When you move to a paid license all you need to do is enter the new license info.

Thank you.  I will not be allowing IP SLA to auto configure any of my devices and of the devices it will be using, none of them are using problematic IOS versions.

As stated in another post, I am very pleased with the auto configuration feature.  I was very nervous about this but it works well and I am impressed.
