Hi there.

I'm testing an evaluation version of IP SLA and have hit a problem.

I've got a few suitable routers in use and have added them as IP SLA Nodes with Read/Write SNMP strings , then defined a few test SLA Operations (UDP Jitter , VOIP UDP Jitter and TCP Connect).

They appear to be running ok and show up in the Operations Help Overview as UP , but when I go into the details of the operation , all the graphs are basically blank. I get the text descriptions such as "Min/Max/Avg graph of jitter" but that's it. The dials on the left side of the screen do show the numeric values so it seems to be running but not storing any data.

Am I having a dumb moment here , or is something not working as it should?

Thanks

DougB_NYC,

Not sure why you're getting NULL values.  I would recommend opening a support ticket so we can start tracking the issue.  Please reference this thwack post when you open the ticket.

Thanks!

Dr Zoidberg,

How long ago did you create the operations, and what frequency did you specify?

I've left them at 3 minute intervals for now , and it's been running for several hours now.

Dr Zoidberg,

which version of IP SLA Manager are you evaluating? (3.0 or 3.1?)

And please, can you send us the IOS version your routers are running?

Thanks.

Can you run a "sho ip stat det" and see if the operations are have return codes of :OK and are producing data?

If that is OK look in the VoipOperationsResults_Details table in SQL and see if it is populated.

If that looks good I would run config wizard against the database, web and services.

Well I have a bit of progress - there is data in the table , so the operations do definitely seem to be completing.

I've run the Orion configuration wizard and now I'm getting a red X under the headers for the graphs - it's a clicakble linkthat takes you to a "file not found" page

"http://monitoring/Orion/Voip/Resources/CustomChart.aspx?ChartName=MOS&NetObject=ISOP%3a18&Period=Last+Hour&SampleSize=10M&SubTitle=Min%2fMax%2fAvg+graph+of+MOS+&SubTitle2=Last+Hour&Title=Phones+-+Gateway+2+-+192.168.1.2+-%3e+Basildon-877.<removed by me>&Width=640"

The customchart.aspx file is where it's supposed to be , and if I trim everything in the URL after the .aspx? I get "Your specfic error is:Value cannot be null. Parameter name: chartType" which is the error I'd expect to see.

It looks like the problem is now with the latter half of the link.

Hi,

I am running 3.1 and am using IP SLA with a 60 second poll interval.  This setup is working well overall.  However, for an unknown reason, some data points are being missed, and a NULL value is logged.

My concern is on the Min/Max/Avg graph of MOS, these NULL values are being graphed as a MOS of 0, which is skewing the perception report.  Can SolarWinds be configured to simply omit these NULL values instead of plotting them as 0?

What are some suggestions to determine why the NULL entries are being logged?

Finally, if I export the data to Excel, the Min, Max and Avg values are all the same.  Why is this the case?  Do I need to adjust the polling intervals to get three different values?

Regards,

-Doug
