    Nortel 3510

    Hello,

     I am having trouble getting configs from our Nortel 3510-24t switches. Using the 5510 template it seems to work fine but hangs and then times out.

     This is what I get from session tracing:

     Process Line = <telnet-access inactive-timeout 15>
    Process Line = <>
    Process Line = <telnet-access logging all>
    Process Line = <>
    Process Line = <----More (q=Quit, space/return=Continue)---->
    Pushing back: <----More (q=Quit, space/return=Continue)---->
    mPrompt is : <SWITCHNAME#>
    TimerTick: mstrData=<----More (q=Quit, space/return=Continue)----> State=3 - Connected to server - idle
    Pending Disconnect = False
    TimerTick: mstrData=<----More (q=Quit, space/return=Continue)----> State=3 - Connected to server - idle
    Pending Disconnect = False
    TimerTick: Just tick-tockin away. ..

     Any ideas? This works just fine on a 470...

    You may need to create a modified template to match the command sequence for your Nortel 3510-24t switches.  Please try downloading/reviewing the device command template tech ref we just posted to see if that helps you troubleshoot.  If you're still unable to get this working, let us know and we'll troubleshoot further.

    Re: Nortel 3510

    The issue seems to be that the device is prompting for a space/return to continue and Cirrus is not able to detect that. Normally the RESET command in the command template sets up the terminal so it does not pause for user input. The RESET command configured in the 5510 template is 'terminal length 0', which most likely is not the correct command for this device. If you can find the appropriate RESET command and update the template, I believe that should solve the issue with this device.

    Has anyone ever found a solution to this problem? I tried many different RESET commands for this switch but nothing works.

    Re: Nortel 3510

    The problem is the RESET command does not work. I have a case open with Nortel to address the issue. "Terminal Length 0" does not disable pagination on the 3510.

    Identical issue resolved for 470 switch on previous release of software.

    When using the ASCI configuration generator, configuring terminal length to 0 did not turn off pagination (Q01003883).

    Re: Nortel 3510

    crazyitguy, we have a v5 beta build that provides the ability to specify a "More" prompt to workaround the Nortel bug.   It allows for specification of the More prompt (in this case "--More") so we can continue downloading the config.   We'd like for both of you to join the v5 beta.  Please shoot me an email at chris.lapoint@solarwinds.com.
