    Symbol Access Point Compatibility

We have some Symbol AP-5131 and we tried to evaluate Wireless Network Monitor but we can see only simple infos, not connected devices, not signal strength or quality. What is wrong about this? These APs are not supported by Solarwinds?

I download a mib file for these APs. Is there anything, that i can do with this?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Symbol Access Point Compatibility

    Hello gdim,

I am the new Product Manager for Wireless Network Manager (WNM). We do support the 802.11 MIB but that doesn't mean it will work with every wireless vendor's implementation. Here is what I recommend:

    • Check the SNMP Access settings of the 5131 via the device management interface to make sure the Orion machine (or subnet) has access to device SNMP
    • Walk the 5131's 802.11 MIB from the same subnet as Orion. If you don't have a MIB walk tool you can eval SolarWinds' Engineer's Toolset.

This may help to get all the SNMP info you are looking for from WNM. It may end up that the Symbol implementation does not work as expected. Symbol's proprietary MIBs are not supported at this time but Orion v9 will have a universal collector so you can collect from any MIB.

    Hope this helps - Andy
