We are looking at adding on the VoIP module to Orion. Currently we have a couple of 3Com NBX systems rolled out. Will VM work with vendors other than Cisco? We are ultimately going to an enterprise Cisco solution, but until then I was hoping to use VM to help monitor and troubleshoot the problems we have with our 3Com systems.
Can anyone provide any insight on this topic?

You can use SolarWinds' to monitor VoIP from any vendor as long as the traffic is carried over Cisco routers. You will be able to see latency, Jitter and MOS. The Call Manager area won't yield data until you deploy Cisco CM. Even though NBX earlier than 6.x use some antiquated protocols, we will still give you good indicative information on call quality.
