Downloading Config Files using FTP protocol.

    Hi,

We've got a few devices (eg. APC Metered PDU Racks ) that serve config files with ftp server and there's no other option (using cli or other) to get config file.
I't be really helpful if It was possible to download config files using FTP protocol. (in other words: if ftp client was a part of Cirrus app).

     Thanks,

    Best Regards

I'll add this as an enhancement request.   Is it possible to setup a config transfer via FTP using the CLI?   If so, you could setup a scheduled job that runs a command script to copy over the config to your FTP server.

     The way it works is:
I log on to device internal FTP serwer  and  then   get the file  something.ini  which contain device configuration.

What then ? When I've copied config file into my FTP server ?  How to automatically put it under (in device tree) my device in cirrus ?
I think I might misunderstad sth. from your reply.

    Thanks for quick answer.

Re: Downloading Config Files using FTP protocol.

I'm having the same issue with some of our devices (i.e. needing the ability to retrieve a binary file via ftp).

We are doing exactly what has been suggested above - creating a script to logon to the device and execute the ftp. This however obviously just dumps the file into a folder outside Cirrus. What would be nice, if Cirrus had an inbuilt FTP server (or even better also sFTP) and associated the downloaded files with the device within the Cirrus console.

Will this capability (or next release) be available anytime soon?

I've added this as an enhancement request and it is on our roadmap.  It's unlikely to make the next release (v5), but may make the one after that.
