I am using Orion over a frame relay link and I find periodically, it saturates the link with traffic. Under normal circumstances I will have about 5kbps of traffic and every few days I see this traffic go up to 64kbps which saturates the link causing the nodes at the remote location to appear to go down. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is there anything that I can do to avoid this from happening?
Thanks!!

Is your polling engine and database server separate and connected by this frame relay link?
Greetings,
I am running Orion with everything on one box at a central site. I have about 12 nodes at a remote location that the central site Orion server is polling.
How long does this saturation last? Have you truly narrowed down the problem to Orion? Have you taken a packet capture at the far end of the link? What type of traffic is saturating the line?
I suspect this is the Orion polling engine rediscovering the devices at this site.
It does a detailed SNMP scan of the devices every few days, depending on what your rediscovery interval is set to.You can find this in the System Manager: Settings>Polling>Rediscover Resources
AFAIK there is no way to completely disable this.
I thought of that also but I couldn't imagine this process saturating the link, especially for just 12 nodes. I could be wrong though.
Thanks you so much!!! I am sure that your are correct. Is there anything that I can do besides delay the inevidable?
Thanks!!!
