    Advanced Alert Problem

    Problem: Can not send SMS/Email upon testing and when alert is triggered
    Category: Advanced Alerts
    Objective: To send SMS/Email to a specified address or number.


    Here is my setup:

       * General Tab
        Alert name: MyAlert
        Enable this Alert (checked)
        Check this Alert every 60 seconds
        Show Advanced Features (checked)

       * Time of the Date Tab
        From 12:00AM to 11:59PM
        Sunday - Saturday (checked)

       * Trigger Condition Tab
        Trigger this Alert for any Interface
          Trigger Alert when any of the ff. apply
          field Interface Status is equal to value Down

       * Reset Condition Tab
        Reset Alert when any of the ff. apply
          field Interface Status is equal to value Up

       * Alert Suppression Tab
        Suppress Alert when any of the following apply

       * Trigger Actions Tab

        ** Send E-Mail/Page to myemail@email.com
            Email/Pager Recipients
                 to: myemail@email.com
                From Email Account
                 name: Admin
                 reply address: sender@email.com
            Message
                Subject: Testing Subject
                Message: <body of the msg>
            SMTP Server
                IP address: xx.xxx.xxx.xx
                SMTP port: 25
                This SMTP Server requires Auth. (unchecked)
            Time of Day
                Execute this Action only bet. spec. hours (unchecked)
                Execute this Action only on these Days of the Week
                  Sunday - Saturday (checked)
            Alert Escalation
                Do not execute this Action if the Alert has been Ack. (unchecked)
                Execute this Action repeatedly while the Alert is Triggered (unchecked)
                Delay the execution of this Action
       * Reset Actions
        Not configured


    THE TESTING ALERT IS DONE! Now, here comes the problem when I test the alert.

     I choose the Network Node and I clicked "Test Alert Trigger" here comes the message and the problem:

    a.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Initiating test for alert MyAlert.
    b.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Retrieved 1 actions for alert MyAlert.
    c.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Preparing action type EMail to test alert MyAlert.
    d.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Email 'Testing Subject' from 'Testing Subject' to '"Admin" <sender@email.com>' has been successfully handed to the local mail handler for alert MyAlert.
    e.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Action type EMail for alert MyAlert completed successfully.
    f.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Completed action type EMail for alert MyAlert.
    g.) 8/15/2007 6:03:21 PM:    Completed test for alert MyAlert.

    My problem is on d.) about sending the message:
        1. Email 'Testing Subject' - which must be the body of the message
        2. From 'Testing Suject' - which must be the name of the sender
        3. To '"Admin" <sender@email.com.' - which must be the recipient

    The result is that: I cannot get the testing message into my email. Have we missed any configurations thereafter? Or is there any bugs on the Advanced Alert? Any fixes should we download to resolve this problem? Please help us to resolve this problem.

    My problem is similar, but not quite the same. My email isn't getting out at all. As you can see from the test logs:

    Having the exact same issue /error message. [Orion 8.5.1 SP3]

    Running just a small trial so, it's on a Windows XP-SP2 box - May be .Net is fouled, anti-virus and related suite programs (McAfee) are running, and there is Group Policy.  To try to remedy, I've done a repair of .Net, shutdown AV services, along with trying a few other miscellaneous items & web research - So far, no luck.  Will log in locally to the box next to remove GPO from the equation and have a little more control for testing.

     Anyone else have a solution?
