     When I try and start the service from the TFTP Server, I get the following error;

    Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you clcik Quite, the application will close immediately.

    Cannot start service SolarWinds TFTP Server on computer 'blahblah'.

    Details:

    See the end of this message for details on invoking

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Has anyone else seen this?  I'm running XP SP2.  It works fine on our W2K3 box.

    -Make sure the property settings for the TFTP Server is set to Local System account. and also allow the service to interact with the desktop. Just curious if either of you had the beta v9 previously installed on your machines?-

    It is set to local system account. Allowing to interact with the desktop produces the same result.

    I didn't have the beta version.

    Re: TFTP Error v.9

    Changed the credentials on the service to a local admin account with log on as a service priv and the service started.

    I changed the "Log On As" from the local system account to my username and password and everything seems to work fine now.

    Re: TFTP Error v.9

    I too was having the same error.  Had to uninstall. Delete all the solarwinds directories and reinstall.   When it does work it is as slow as molassases.  Use tftpd32 instead.  Its free and its fast

    Re: TFTP Error v.9

    Could you quantify the slowness that you are seeing?   If you can elaborate on your expectations, I'm sure we can make the desired improvements.  Unlike tftpd32, SolarWinds TFTP Server runs as a service out of the box.  If you want to use tftpd32 instead, you can still use the Cisco Config Tools without issue by using the advanced options.

    Hi Chris,

    Can you shed some light on the following error:

    TFTP connected from 192.168.1.104:32439 on 8/27/2007 8:38:34pm, octet,GET file:c:\TFTP-Root\/PAP2-SP2K.bin,Status:InProcess-Transferring...

    TFTP connected from 192.168.1.104:32439 on 8/27/2007 8:38:34pm, octet,GET file:c:\TFTP-Root\/PAP2-SP2K.bin,Status:Error-Code:4,Message:Unknown error

     TFTP connected from 192.168.1.104:32439 on 8/27/2007 8:38:34pm, octet,GET file:c:\TFTP-Root\/PAP2-SP2K.bin,Status:Error-Code:7,Message:File not found or total size is too big.

    It happens when I try to load a new firmware file PAP2-SP2K.bin onto a VOIP device through a router. I don't know about the Unknown error, but the other error message isn't accurate, because the file IS there (if the file isn't there, TFTP wouldn't even say anything. I have tried). Total size shouldn't be too big, either.

    minidanas,

    Can you tell me which version of Toolset you are using?   To find out, go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and select SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset and select "Click here for more support information".

    If you're not on 9.1, can you try upgrading to see if this resolves your issue?   If it doesn't, please open a support ticket with details of how/when this occurs so we can track this issue and try to reproduce on our side.

    Thanks,

    I am on a free trial of v9.0. 9.1 isn't available as a free trial, I think.

    Ok, you should be able to download 9.1 Eval now.  For more details on what was included in this version, see the following announcement:

    Please let me know if this fixes your issue.
