Hi there. We have a sporadic error causing our SQL monitors to fail about 30-35% of the time. The message given is:
"There were errors with either issuing the query string or its execution"
...I could understand this being related to network problems, but a) all other monitors are fine, and b) we have about 20 servers in there suffering the same problem, so I'm at a loss for a reason. The same query has been running perfectly against servers all over the world for the past 2 years in ipMonitor 7. Any help greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be one we can easily diagnose in the forum and will require reproduction. Your best bet is to open a support ticket on this one. I'll let the folks in support know it's coming...
They should get back to you with requests for more information, but you might export your current configuration (including monitor settings) at attach so they can more easily reproduce.
AlanN:
Have you reach any conclusion? I have the same problem. It's doesnt seem that is a network problem.
Regards
Hi alexmex,
I think it's now sorted - bit early to say for sure, but we're certainly seeing a massive improvement in uptime on that server.
I patched with the very latest release (9.01 build 1244) and added the following parameter to the Global Behavoiur Modifiers (Configuration, System Settings, Global Behavior Modifiers tab):
Behavior Modifier Name - Monitoring.wmi.extern.retry.duration
Behavior Modifier Value - 400
Restart the service when you're done. Hope that helps.
The error that we have is:
Unable to connect to the remote device WinOS Error: 0x80004005
And we still have ipMonitor 8.5.

Any patch to this version? I think is better to open a case
Hi alex,That looks like a different issue to what we were experiencing. Couple of things:Are you using WMI or SNMP (what version?) for the monitor?Do you have any software or hardware firewalls between the ipMonitor machine and your target?Bit of a daft question, but have you installed the WMI components on your target system?I'm suspecting if those answers are all ok then you're looking at an RPC issue. What operating systems are running on both machines?
I'm using ADO QA.
I have the ipMonitor connected with a private link to the servers. I'm monitoring.
Both machines have W2003.
I don't think is a network problem. Why doesn't any other monitor fails?
I wish someone could help us.
Sorry, I slipped off on that last answer - I was thinking of the other question I posted (WMI related). I should (re-)read my own topics!
The fix for the ADO monitors was as I posted above - the patch. Sorry, I know that's no answer when you're stuck a version back!
