Blackberry Enterprise Server - WMI (Free tool tested)

This monitor was created with APM v2.5 and monitors the following objects via WMI.

Processes:
BlackberryAgent.exe
blackberryController.exe
BlackberryRouter.exe
BlackberrySyncServer.exe

Components:
MessagesExpired
MessagesQueuedForDelivery
MessagesRecievedPermin
MessagesSentPermin

Enjoy!

Note: In order to get things to function correctly, we had to follow the following guide.  (http://www.solarwinds.com/support/apm/docs/APMWMITroubleshooting.pdf)  After following the "Reset the WMI Counters" section, we started seeing data.

It isn't working for me.

I don't have "Win32_PerfFormattedData_BlackBerryEnterpriseServer_BlackBerryServer"

did you have to do anything to the blackberry server to get this counter to show up?

ahh!

Just got it working.  the Win32_PerfFormattedData_BlackBerryEnterpriseServer_BlackBerryServer wasn't showing up, but I ran "wmiadap.exe" on the BES server and it showed up.

Then I saw that there is a Win32_PerfFormattedData_BlackBerryEnterpriseServer_BlackBerryServer now, but my server name is different.

Try changing the query to:

SELECT MessagesExpired FROM Win32_PerfFormattedData_BlackBerryEnterpriseServer_BlackBerryServer WHERE Name like '%-001'

Hi,

This worked great for me but i am not sure what those 4 components are supposed to be doing? How can i monitor those directly on the server and how can i view the new WMI information on the server after running wmiadap.exe?

thanks in advance..

Hello,

From what I saw.  Those 4 components gave a litte information on what the BES is doing and how many messages is it processing.  The are some other things you can monitor but I didn't see anything else that looked interesting to me at the time.

There is a troubleshooting WMI document on the APM forums that I used to help get things working.  I wasn't able to pull any data till I did a refresh.  Then there were multiple instances.

We've had the same hardware in place for a few different versions of BES so some of the data we were seeing looked like legacy data.  You could also poll the router and MDS services I believe for more data. (We don't use MDS.)

Thanks.

Hi all,

Need asome expert advice here..... when testing this template all processes report successful. However components fail. I have attempted all suggestions listed here with no succes. When troubleshooting WMI I do not see "MessagesExpired" anywhere.

Not a SQL wizard but am looking at the template scratching my head.

Thanks,

Koz

I had the same problem and it seems like it took a while.  I ran through the WMI documentation and didn't see anything.  I tried it again the next day and the values were there...

Is there a way to test to a Blackberry device within APM?

Right click on the download link and select save target as...  Copy the file to your Orion server then import it with APM.  If you don't get any stats, run through the WMI troubleshooting document.

Possibly i am overlooking something simple, but when i attempt to use the template the services work fine but the components such as "Messages Received" fail with the message "The supplied credential is invalid". Tried using several different accounts but all through back the same message.

Any ideas?
