• Re: Backing Up Linux Files with Cirrus

I use Cirrus to back up my iptables config. I configured a username for Cirrus on my Linux firewall, configured a command alias for iptables so I get more info (iptables -L -n --line), and created a custom Device Type which has my command in it (iptlist). Recently, I've modified my command alias...

  • NET-SNMP Objects

I am new to configuring Orion so please bear with me... We have a few Linux based boxes and the results from trying to monitor these with 8.5 has been problematic at best. In the two instances so far, we have had a system use 9,588% of its RAM (very VERY efficient box, don'tcha know) and another...

  • Re: MasterShaper

Honestly, I think Linux running MasterShaper holds up better under stress than the NetEnforcer. I've had a user on a NetEnforcer pulling over 1500kbps when they were set to only have 400kbps. It's happened multiple times on different NetEnforcers. The usual response from support is to reboot...

  • SNMP Stops Responding On Linux Host When Monitoring Volumes

If I try to monitor disk volumes using the default management MIB on Linux systems, the SNMP agent will stop responding after a few minutes. I have read in some places where this is a net-snmp issue, but I am hoping that maybe there is some work around to this. Thanks, Bo
I understand this is a Orion forum to responses may be bias.
I think one of the greatest benefits to Orion is this forum. I have never actually called Solarwinds TAC, and have always been able to find a cheerful answer here, whether it required me to submit...

  • Re: Backing Up Linux Files with Cirrus

Any idea when and if this is going to be available, with our iptables firewalls we would like to have that ability. Also, does anyone have a good Linux/iptables command template that they can share?? Thanks, Paul V.

  • Linux server monitoring

Our Linux and ESX (3.01) servers report in excess of 100 % Memory Utilization. Is there a way to bring that down to reasonable levels? What monitoring items have been created for monitoring an ESX and SAN environment? The Orion version is 8.5.1 SP3

  • Re: Orion vs. Zenoss

I've never had any luck with Orion monitoring Linux; or course that was with version 8.02. Last I knew you needed 1 specific version of snmpd running that would work with Orion. I don't think any other versions were working.

Anything regarding Linux would be valuable to me; especially the latest version of net-snmp.

SolarWinds really needs to start looking into broadening their support of Linux (net-snmp).
