Orion Polling traffic control
I am using Orion over a frame relay link and I find periodically, it saturates the link with traffic. Under normal circumstances I will have about 5kbps of traffic and every few days I see this traffic go up to 64kbps which saturates the link causing the nodes at the remote location to appear to go down...

Problem with Custom MIB Poller stats graphs
I have noticed on all our Custom pollers that when I do a graph for the previous 7 days for instance UPS temp probe, I get big gaps in the graph when I look at the raw data there are big gaps in the data so it whould seem either it's not polling or the data is getting lost. Anyone else having this...

wrong util and interface load data due to ifMib counter rollovers. How to make sure it uses ifXmibs?
Hi: We are using Orion NPM version 8.1.0 We have a gigabit ethernet over which a large amount of data are transferred. During this transfer, the actual interface util is observed around 80% (800mbps). This util is observed on the device and by a 3rd party snmp poller/charting program. However, on Orion...

NetPerfMonService hangs for 15+ minutes after reboot (version 8.5.1)
Yesterday we upgraded Orion from version 8.1 to 8.5.1. After doing so, we are now seeing the following: For approximately 15-20 minutes after the SolarWinds server is rebooted, the NetPerfMonService does not completely load. During this time period, I am unable to load System Manager - Network Performance...

Building a custom alert based on "Last Database Update"
I'm not sure why I am having such a struggle with this one, It seems to me that it should be very easy to do. I am trying to build an alert that triggers when the polling engine status field "Last Database Update" or "Last Database Sync" reaches a specific time limit. for example...

Polling Status Shows Negative ICMP Outstanding
When viewing Polling Status the ICMP Outstanding is displaying negative numbers. This just started sometime last week after several months of using NPM 8.5.1 SP2. I installed SP3 yesterday and hoped it would fix the issue but it had no effect. Sorry if this has been addressed elswhere but I haven't...

Cyber-Ark - Set ICMP payload to 32 Bytes
Cyber-Ark For those of you using the Cyber-Ark enterprise password vault appliance, be sure to set your Orion Network Performance Monitor ICMP payload to exactly 32 bytes. Cyber-Ark doesn't allow any protocol traffic in/out except its own, so while SNMP is out a Cyber-Ark will answer up to an ICMP...

Re: Gap in chart
I have my DB server using a Raid 0, 3 disk array, which gives maximum disk IO with no redundancy. As I am willing to lose up to 24 hours of data, redundancy is not an issue (DB is backed up every night). The Web site runs fine, as the whole DB fits into the 7Gb memory alloted for the DB. As for gaps...

Poller failover messages when poller is not failing over???
We recently added a second polling engline to our solarwinds landscape. Running Orion Version 8.5.1 SLX. We now are getting daily alert emails that the pollers have failed over and failed back when they have not failed. No indicaiton of failover in the event logs. We have less than 8000 Elements with...

Migrating Nodes to Different Poller
I'm sure this has to have been asked, but my searches are coming up blank via the forums and google. We are currently running 8.5.1 on the latest service pack. Is there a documented process for migrating nodes (int, volumes, etc) from one polling engine to another? If we wanted to collapse one polling...
